This week we reached our 500th tutorial submitted to the Vunky Search search engine. That seemed to me like a good opportunity to look back on the last couple of months.
VunkySearch was initially launched as a proof of concept. (hence the not so SEO friendly name) After a massive digg on StumbleUpon I decided to keep it up and use it as a new search platform for Photoshop tutorials.
After 8 months the search engine attracts a steady 800~1000 visitors a day with more than 50.000 actions per month. (according to getclicky)
The real SEO love has stayed out, but thanks to 1600 people bookmarking on delicious and writing about the website on their blogs, the visitors keep on coming. There even was a funny mention in some German internet television show (Vunky Saaarch) and a blog post from a dude in India.
In the next couple of months I am planning to expand the number of tutorials and optimize the website for search engines like Google and Yahoo.
You may already noticed some changes in the interface, where the lightbox breaks out into a new page. I am also planning to release a WordPress plugin so you can display the latest Photoshop tutorials on your website. That should provide you with some eye candy.
