8 popular One-man Show blogs
1 Dec 2009 Author: admin In: WWWI was reading an article (Webdesigner Depot Turns One Year Old!) over at WebdesignerDepot.com and was really amazed at the amount of visitors Walter Apai manages to attract. In one year time more than 10 million visitors viewed his blog. That proofs you don’t need a large team of writers or a big marketing budget to get famous online.
It inspired me to find the faces behind some of the populair blogs I follow on a daily bases. Together these guys attract millions of visitors each month. Some of these blogs now use guest posts and paid writers, but they all started out as one-man shows.
Fabio Sasso – Abduzeedo
Abduzeedo is a collection of visual inspiration and useful tutorials. Founded in December 2006 by Brazilian designer Fabio Sasso, Abduzeedo follows Sasso’s own experimentations and records his abduction by the world of design, which set the theme for the blog.
What began as a means for backup after an ugly robbery, is now one of the design world’s most sought after blog for inspiration and tutorials. Abduzeedo draws in more than a hundred thousand design enthusiasts a day and almost two million a month. We have contributors from Brazil and the USA, and readers from all over the globe.

Tom Kenny – Inspect Element

Inspect Element is a project born out of a need to give something back to a rather superb online community.
Web designers and web developers are the most sharing professionals out there and I feel that I have learnt from the best in the business so I want to share what I know, what I’ve learnt and what I’ll learn in the future.
Inspect Element is designed and built by myself, Tom Kenny, using the awesome WordPress. You can see other work that I’ve done over at my portfolio. Currently I am working as an in-house designer for TUI Travel working on some major brands.

Paul Boag – Boagworld

Boagworld began as the personal blog of Paul Boag, where he mainly discussed web design issues. However, Paul quickly discovered that writing was hard work and so turned to the emerging medium of podcasting.
Boagworld is now the longest running and most popular web design podcast.

Nick La – Web Designer Wall

Web Designer Wall is designed and maintained by Nick La, who also runs N.Design Studio and Best Web Gallery. I’ve been designing for several years and my work has been published on numbers of magazines. I love to share ideas and design techniques. Web Designer Wall serves as my public blog where I post my design ideas, tutorials, and talk about modern web design trends.
Why Web Designer Wall? As a designer, I often have a lot of ideas that flow in my mind; usually I draw them on my sketch pad and then paste them on the wall. This is how the name was created — a wall of ideas.

Chris Spooner – Spoongraphics Blog

I’m a self employed designer, who earns a fulltime living with a mix of blogging and the odd design project. Blog.SpoonGraphics began as my personal experiment after deciding to take a deeper look into the WordPress application and the world of blogging. I setup Blog.SpoonGraphics in April 2007 and started posting a couple of articles and tutorials.
After a short while a couple of the posts started gaining a decent bit of attention and traffic levels began to grow at a fairly fast rate. The site continued to grow in size to what it is today, resulting in some great exposure consisting of various features and interviews on similar blogs and websites, as well as inclusions in international design magazines and publications.

I know all the blogs you included in this post but I visit Web Designer Wall and Six Revisions most. I think I will give the others a bit more attention now that know their story! And yours too – keep it up.
