Although it started out as a webdesign company, my ultimate goal is to make a living not designing (for customers), but building web based software that makes the lives of us designers and small business owners better.

When you are launching a new website or service you often don’t have a big marketing budget or a network to promote your stuff on.

Instead of trying to out-market your competitors, you could try a different approach like teaching. A lot of big companies don’t like to share how their business model or service works. They are afraid that someone will copy that information into a competitive product.

The ABC’s of a good design proposal

Every now and then a friend or colleague of mine passes me a design proposal from the competition. I’m always interested in checking out how other design companies work and how they approach potential customers.

Just the other day when I was cleaning up my office I started putting together a pile of those design proposals. After browsing through a couple of them, I noticed that they actually really really s*cked. Most of them just cover one page and are one step away of being written on the back of a napkin.
