Showcasing my Workspace

19 Apr 2010 In: Business, Inspiration

Last weekend I decided to do some spring cleaning on my office and I out figured this might also be a good moment to enter the Hall Of Fame of sharing snapshots of your home office. Soon you will be seeing my office on freelancefolder.com and workstationsetups.com :)

The Office

I generally work from two places: my home office or my photo studio. The photo studio is located in an empty office building with 1500 square meters of pure photographic joy!

My home office is much smaller, but evenly enjoyable to work in. The walls are covered with magnetic paint, so I can easily hang up and look at the photos I’ve shot.

I don’t like a cramped workspace, so my desk and office furniture is setup comfortable and widely. A big desk is a must have.

As you can see the equipment is not state of the art, but nevertheless it gets the job done. I work on a 20 inch iMac with 4GB of memory. Attached to it you will find a 1TB Lacie storage disk, 2 small Creative Labs speakers and a Wacom tablet. I also use a small Brother printer for everyday print work and an Epson R2880 printer for all photo prints.

If you look closer to the left you will also see a small 17 inch iMac, which I normally use that one at the photo studio.

Work Gear

Following the It’s All In The (Designer’s Bag) blog post I thought it might also be funny to show you what I’m normally packed with.

myoffice4.jpg I always cary around a leather document case containing my paperwork and a Moleskine note book.

My laptop is the old Dell Aspire from my girlfriend. It runs Ubuntu and is perfect for everything except Photoshop work.

I use the iPhone for calling and the iPod for listening to music. (Foo Fighters at the moment)

My Canon 350d travels along for taking snap shots.

At the moment I’m reading The 4-Hour Workweek, but that changes on a monthly basis.

(I also have the strange habit of carrying around one of those free pencils you get at Ikea. I just love them for sketching.)

The Website

Well that’s about it for my workspace and gear post. I know some of you might have noticed that the months March and April both have been a bit quiet for Vunky Blog, but that will change since soon. I have a bunch of new posts lining up. This being the first one.

I hoped you enjoyed reading it and I love to hear from you in the comments section.
